Hello! I am happy to report that I have made it home safely. I’m back for the first time (longer than just a visit) in one year. Adjusting to home life hasn’t been super difficult. I do miss the friends I made and my students. I’m also still in the few days it takes to kick jet lag in the booty. Other than that, things are going pretty well. I got a job at a daycare that starts next week. This will help me re-establish my routine.
This boy’s dad came in on the last morning of school and took this picture of us looking at a book together. The dad tells me that his son loves me and I’m his favorite teacher and best friend. This melted me haha.
I’ve decided to do “being home” a little differently this time. Last time I came home, I very easily checked out of my missional heart and into passivity about this purpose that’s been given to me. What I’ve learned is that this isn’t really living in the fullness of my design. God is working wherever I am, and He’s invited me to go with Him AND to stay with Him. Just because I’m in my comfortable home and not on the traditional outreach doesn’t mean I’m on vacation from my calling. A calling isn’t a job, but a lifestyle. I’ve been praying about what being missional here would look like for me. I will say yes to what He says just because I love Him so I don’t want to say no. I don’t even want to give myself the option to. So, I will be posting throughout the summer and keeping my facebook page updated if you would like to keep following along. I’m also planning on probably doing some more worship videos. Possibly even writing more once. I have some big plans. If for nothing else, I’ll keep posting for accountability. I don’t want to open this page and have nothing to say.
That being said, I don’t have anything else to say right now (lol). I’ve only been home for a few days, and last week was explained in a video log (on my facebook page if you haven’t seen it yet). I hope that throughout the summer I continue to have more testimonies and updates to share with my community. As always, thank you all so much for your support in prayer and in donations when I needed it. It’s good to know that I’m loved and that my family and friends have my back. I love you all (y’all)!
love, Gigi
