Last Full Week!

This week is week 10 of foundation school. Next week ends on Thursday, and that’s it for the quarter. I’ve had so much fun as a teacher, and I’ve also learned so much as it was my first time teaching. This ending is bitter-sweet, because I’m ready to go home and step into the next season, but at the same time I’ll miss these kids and my team. I love being a missionary so much, but it’s always hard to say goodbye before moving on to the next thing. I won’t let it stop me from loving and finishing strong.

This is a letter from one of my students. He’s only five, so he told his mom what to write, and it really warmed my heart to receive this card. It’s always nice to have a little sign every once in a while of reassurance that I am doing what I was made to do. This boy was so shy and hiding and crying on registration day, and since then I’ve gotten to see his personality shine through. He’s sweet and kind and loves Jesus so so much.

I’m currently writing this post reclined on the couch. I (in the most dramatic tone possible) am sick today. A couple of my roommates have been sick for the past few days, and it appears I’ve caught it. I had to sit out today, which happens to be my class’s only field trip of the whole quarter. It’s good that they were able to have a helper come in, but I’m bummed because things like this are the perfect opportunities to get pictures for a blog post. In all seriousness, I know they’ll have a great time and I’m happy that they get to go (even without me).

Okay okay, I’ll stop being a bummer haha. Last week was a very good one! I taught about the Bible and The Kingdom of God. The kid’s received it very well. Lately we’ve been having trouble keeping their attention during teaching, but for some reason last week they were very focused. We also had three days of outreach instead of just one. We visited two DTS classrooms and the School of Worship (pictured above). A couple of weeks ago, I taught them a children’s worship song that I translated from Spanish to English. In the picture, that’s us playing it for the School of Worship! They were able to sing and do the motions, all I had to do was play guitar. They didn’t need me to help them with words or anything. I’m so proud of them!

when we visit classes for outreach, we have a structure that we follow most of the time. We’ll share a few memory verses, share a little bit of what we’re learning that week, and then show some worship songs and dances. Even the shyer kids really love it and I’m so glad that they do. All thirteen of them love having the microphone to introduce themselves, share verses, and even sing. I love the confidence that we have in this group!

That’s about all I have for you this week. I’ve decided that I will keep posting while I’m home this summer, so the next time you hear from me I’ll have made it safely back home.

As always, that you so much for your prayers and support. I love you all (y’all) and really appreciate your willingness to partner with me in what God has me doing. I’ve been able to fully obey without any worries because of my support system at home. Love, Gigi <3
